A Night To Remember With Patron at Soho House
When the guys over at Patron Tequila asked us if we’d like to party with them and Elijah Wood in Soho House last Thursday night we spent many hours making up our minds, unanimously deciding that yes, this would be a brilliant idea.
I’ll be the first to admit I am not a fan of tequila, it brings back too many memories of pre, present and post university nights out that often resulted in one of a kind stories followed by mornings that I couldn’t wait to forget. Just last week I was involved in a round of tequila shots at a gig in Wedding, my face immediately scrunched up and stomach churning soon after the clear liquid graced my body.
Of course, Patron was never involved in any of these occasions, replaced by shitty, no-name glorified paint stripper. When I had worked in a pub a few years ago we had a bottle of Patron XO Cafe Tequila on the spirits shelf which was the first tequila I’d had that actually tasted drinkable to me. With that in mind I looked forward to the VIP Soiree and Party that Patron had invited us to.
Soho House, for those who don’t know, is a members-only hotel and apartment complex that is smack bang in the middle of Berlin and has a pool on the roof. It’s nothing short of fancy and a fitting place for any event described as a “soiree”.
Upon arriving at the second floor events space we were greeted by a room packed of what seemed to be Berlin’s most beautiful people and also tequila. Lots of tequila. In the two bars spanning the “concert” room and the “mingle” room the shelves were stocked full of Patron with a variety of Tequila basked cocktails being served up by the skilled bartenders.
My personal favorite was the Margarita followed closely behind by the delicious espresso martini made with my old friend, Patron XO Cafe Tequila. Food was supplied by roaming waiters serving entrée’s in the form of small pasta nibbles, mini burgers (not as cheap as they sound), some sort of raw meat and Berlin stlye currywurst.
This night wasn’t just about the eating and drinking though, bar from mingling with the impressive host of interesting guests, entertainment was provided by an Oculus Rift rig, taking you through the journey of how Patron Tequila comes to life and some talented live music and Dj’s.
