Stattnacht @ Stattbad – This Week in Berlin
The former state swimming pool turned magical party venue/exhibition/performance space, Stattbad, will be hosting a mega night of all things techno and deep house, this Saturday the 7th. Stattnacht is the name of this regular Saturday night party; this one is going to be huge! Stattbad is known for its raw industrial charm and hosts plenty of great exhibitions, music events and even fabulous dinner parties. In fact, next Tuesday the 10th of February a super cool dinner party concept will take place, with a three-course vegan meal being presented by some awesome local chefs. You can check out their website for more info.
The party will be spilt up between two levels, predominantly luscious house upstairs and monstrous techno downstairs. First on the bill is dreamy, tech house superstar, Lawrence. Hailing from Hamburg and co founder of Dial label, known for his silky smooth minimal approach to both house and techno he has managed to develop quite a diverse style in all aspects of his production. Kate Miller is next on the list, an Australian born lass, who has done nothing but progress since moving to Berlin. You may know her from her residency at the party series Oscillate, hosted at about blank//. With a heavy Detroit and Chicago house influence this chick is someone to keep your eye on. Also joining these guys is one of Russia’s deep house producers Anton Zap, and one of Germanys quirkiest dj/producer’s, Capablanca.
Downstairs you will find some seriously great techno. Mega duo, Clouds will be headlining the techno dungeon. Scottish born young guns, you may recognise them from Turbo Records, have made a name for themselves with an uncompromising outlook on music to be more specific, ‘stomp worthy’ techno music. If you are into deep, dark, powerful big room techno these guys are right up your alley. Joining them is UK based producer and co founder of Hemlock Recordings, Untold. This guy has been around the ropes and is a veteran when it comes to producing some fine electronic music. Having released his debut album Black Light Spiral in February last year and also started a sub label coming off Hemlock, Hemlock Black, he’s been a busy man. His sub label has been described as ‘ futuristic physical club music’, extremely fitting to this party’s vibe. Last but certainly not least German techno producer Moerbeck, known for his gritty, grungy techno music will finish off this incredible line-up for Saturday eve.
I’ll leave you with a powerful tune and personal favourite by Clouds to give you a rough idea of what’s install for you. It’s going to be a large evening!
