Shades of Basil

Shades Of Basel

A unique approach to the Art Basel, Miami, contemporary art show by Angel Lebailly

Shades of Basil

Shades of Basil

Oh Basel, Oh Miami
I languish without you
The shades of Basel
Put a spell on me.

Shades of Basil

Shades of Basil

Sneaking into downtown Miami
Inspired, broke and free
Seeking Art, Finding Paradise
Everywhere but around me. I die.

Shades of Basil

Shades of Basil

These huge streets of liberty
Of pale shadows of pink
Of shy hues of blue
The sea, the sky. I die.

Shades of Basil

Shades of Basil

And shallow and little
I shiver, I whisper
That Basel seduced me,
That Miami killed me.

Shades of Basil

Shades of Basil

All of a sudden
It’s no more. It’s gone.
I woke up sad, silent.
Seeking birds, American birds.

Shades of Basil

Shades of Basil

Slow, tired, and little
I’ve never been so little
Walking down Wynwood Walls
Smelling these Bohemian streets.

Shades of Basil

Shades of Basil

With Illusion, confusion
and deprived of sleep,
fed with stars of creation
My feet, my eyes. I die.

Shades of Basil

Shades of Basil

Oh Basel, Oh Miami
There’s no dream, none
That is called like you
So shy, pale and crazy
Such as me.
