¡Forward, Russia! Live at the Brudenell

After nearly 6 years apart, ¡Forward, Russia! were invited to play at the centenary celebrations of the Brudenell Social Club, Leeds’ most iconic live music venue slash cheap pool social club, they agreed.

The band achieved critical acclaim in 2006 with their album ‘Give Me A Wall’ and were amongst a group of bands all enjoying the attention of the national press at the time.

When the band split in 2008 unexpectedly there was no farewell tour, no send off for the fans of which the band had now enlisted a lot. When arranging the band roster for the Brudenell’s 100th birthday party, manager Nath reached out to the group and was met with an overall feeling of, “let’s do it.”

This short documentary directed by Tom Airey follows the band around during rehearsals and preparations for the show and features interviews from the likes of BBC6 Music’s Steve Lamacq.
