ECHO – Short Film by Lewis Arnold
17-year-old schoolgirl Caroline receives a phone call in a busy shopping street. The news is
bad, she breaks down crying and is helped by strangers passing by. What starts as a
touching dramatic set-up turns into something more complex and challenging as
perspectives shift and we learn that things may or may not be what they first seemed.
Loosely based on a real life event witnessed by writer James Walker, this 18-minute short
has been screened at an impressive selection of film festivals all around the world and is
now available to watch online. Centered around an intensely focused performance by
young actress Lauren Carse, it introduces British director Lewis Arnold, graduate of the
National Film and Television School, as an exciting new talent to watch. Give it a go. It’s
dark, riveting and thought-provoking. You can watch the full film below.
