Second Hand Shopping in Berlin

As a fashion lover, and someone with not much money to spend on “it pieces” (once a wise friend of mine said, “ If you can’t put on your designer bag with at least double amount of money you spent on it, in it, then you probably can’t afford it!”) I found myself running through second hand shops.
Berlin might not be the fashion Mecca, but is definitely the right place when it comes to vintage shops. Either for the masses or upper classes, there is a second hand shop for every taste, style, and of course, bank account.

Following here, some interesting, sometimes expensive, but definitely stylish second hand shops in Berlin.

Paul’s Boutique

pauls boutique lowFor people that don’t have the patience to dig through shelves or look through the hangers, forget Paul’s Boutique. This second hand shop is cool but super packed with all kinds of street wear clothes. A paradise for sneakers fans, with brands from Adidas to Nike, Paul’s Boutique also offers some Fred Perry shirts, Lee jeans and very stylish 90’s bomber jackets.
Another reason to go there? The walls are filled with toy robots, star wars collectibles and boom boxes.
Super Berlin style, good way to start your shopping.

TownesIf you’re looking for more designer brands, classical French couture then this is the place. In this vintage shop in Mitte, you can find some vintage Yves Saint Laurent or a Céline bag.
As the owner Shoko Kawaida, a fashion designer originally from Japan puts it, “Townes was found in 2012 to unique mix of vintage and labels collected by me. Townes has become one of very unique style mixing garments in Berlin with vintage hand worked garments, early Helmut Lang and work wear. I’m in love with cities I’ve never been to – A store that offers a journey around the world you travel through your garments. Special pieces take us to different places and times”.

With pieces that go from 1930’s to 1960’s fashion, Class of Berlin gets together handmade labels with vintage clothing.
With 2 floors, full with clothes and accessories, on the second one you can even add more style to your look: a traditional Barber is at your service.
Classic fashion with subcultural twist.

Sing Black Bird

sing black birdDifferent from the massive second hand shops, this one offers a bit more of a relaxed shopping experience. Take your time, drink a coffee, and look for pieces, carefully chosen and displayed in a cosy Neukölln location.
At Sing Black Bird you are mainly going to find very good vintage pieces, some 80’s sweaters and stylish jewellery.
But don’t expect to get lots of bargains, very good clothes comes with a price unfortunately. Not the cheapest second hand shop, but well organized and with a very good clothing selection.

PS- for those who really are out of money, but still looking to fill in their closets, Humana Second Hand Shop is very cheap and affordable. Don’t expect to find designer pieces or super stylish vintage clothes, but if you have an eye for fashion, with a bit time you can find some wearable pieces.
